Liga MB Round 18 (Regular Season): A.Lobos beat Cojute in the most crucial game of the week

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cojutepeque. First ranked A.Lobos faced 4th ranked Cojute. Guests from (16-2) defeated host Cojute (11-7) 85-67. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks. Guard Jerome Savoy (185, college: Pfeiffer) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Cojute's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. A.Lobos have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-2 record. Cojute at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost.
The game in was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Metapan (14-3) played at the court of 5th ranked Independiente (9-9). Metapan managed to secure a 9-point victory 86-77. It was a good game for Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 24 rebounds. Xavier Zambrana contributed with 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for Independiente. Metapan have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Independiente at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost.
The game in Santa Ana supposed to be also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Brujos (8-10) played at the court of 8th ranked Santa Ana (6-11). Brujos smashed Santa Ana 102-57 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Santa Ana. Allon Johnson had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 25 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Timothy Simmons with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Santa Ana's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Brujos maintains sixth position with 8-10 record, which they share with Salvadorenos. Loser Santa Ana keeps the eighth place with 11 games lost.

In the last two games of round 18 Salvadorenos crushed Santa Tecla in San Salvador 93-66. Bottom-ranked Ahuachapan was beaten by Independiente at home 70-76.



Independiente - Metapan 77-86

The game in was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Metapan (14-3) played at the court of 5th ranked Independiente (9-9). Metapan managed to secure a 9-point victory 86-77. Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Independiente's 34. There was no surprise when 9th ranked Santa Tecla (2-16) was crushed at home by seventh ranked Salvadorenos (8-10) 93-66 on Saturday. Salvadorenos dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Tecla's 24. Salvadorenos forced 22 Santa Tecla turnovers. Forward Marcos Menjivar (190-2004) scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Alfonso Tobar (191-2007) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Salvadorenos' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Rodrigo Gamero (192-2004) with 22 points and 9 rebounds and guard Raul Valladares (180-2005) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Salvadorenos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Brujos. Santa Tecla lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 16 games lost.
